May 12 Untitled Senior Year Retrospect Fall 2007 jottings 在這個非常時期迷上了日劇……多次通宵達旦“煲劇”……罪過……作為懲罰上天賜了一場fever……Freshmen Year以來第一次……還持續了三天…… 每個禮拜跟TAMAR見面……更有數次meeting在她家（Albee Annex)……才知道原來她住學校……有一次在她 家DINNER，本來還期待甚麼home cooking，結果是PIZZA with pepperoni and mushroom-_-! 原來TAMAR嫁了一個KOREAN……去年還誔下兒子……害我整個JUNIOR YEAR沒有ADVISOR…… 上Econometrics晚節不保……withdraw…… 渴望double major(econ and music)……無奈因欠缺毅力和自信而放棄…… Geoclassical Economics這門課……非常有意義……from Land Value Tax to Eco-economics to Imperialism……大開眼界……Neoclassical (mainstream) Economics自欺欺人的理論淪為笑柄…… Senior Project Midway Board: too much data, not enough writing 學期完結後花了一個禮拜在NYC完成Geoclassical Economics term paper……住進了MANHATTAN一家挺有 特色的HOSTEL……晚上不用睡床，而是在COMMON ROOM隨地亂躺-_-! October 28 Wedding @ Flushing 參加婚禮一點不好玩……交通、住宿、禮金一共花了將近US$200 -_-! 幸好禮服不用破費（謝謝舜揚） Spring 2008 有生以來第一次包餃子……(chinese new year) 四月十八日……有蛋糕、寫滿了字的賀卡，還有很多人賞面……好大的面子……謝謝各位…… Senior Project 3rd presentation徹底失敗…… 第一次喝醉兼嘔吐-_-! (for no apparent reason……) Spring Break自製了Taco……自暑假以來第一次認真下廚…… Bought my second electric guitar……sold my first……then bought my third-_-! (went on a spending spree in anticipation of the imminent income stream, that is, if I manage to find employment) My senior project culminated in an inconclusive (i.e. lame) conclusion. Many regrets. The copy handed in to the library is outright embarassing. 四月三十日，直到下午四時四十五分還在趕PROJECT……江山易改，本性難易……-_-! 勉強把PROJECT遞了 給LIBRARY，心情沉到了谷底……好不甘心…… 勉為其難繼續徹夜不眠趕工，到五月二日總算有點改善……really the final version……for Board Meeting purpose…… Last presentation went better than expected. Board meeting ended satisfactorily. What more can I ask for for the meagre effort I put into this whole thing? I wish I had consulted Dorothy Crane earlier. Anyhow, I'm glad my project is at least a somewhat enjoyable read. P.S.比較難忘的是為了練習presentation特地跟TAMAR跑了一趟Hannaford……(for refreshments for senior presentations......) March 17 Game 1 Recap[squeezing free time out of none...] 3/16/07 10PM Starters: Junhao, Shun-Yang, Ka-Lok, Fu Lei, Marco Substitutes: Tang Yun, Wu Yu The game took place on a stormily snowy Friday night, and travelling to the gym was made that much more difficult. The participants certainly deserved their share of applause  . Despite failing to pull off a victory, the final score of 42(?)-36 was nonetheless respectable in its own right, and it would not have been possible without the help of Fu Lei, who emerged as a pleasant surprise in an otherwise ordinary inaugural intramural basketball game. Having been suffering from a cold and an earlier fever, he started and lasted through the whole game, providing a much-needed inside presence with his relentless rebounding, which in turn generated considerable second-opportunity scoring. Fu Lei, along with the playmaking and scoring of our backcourt duo - Ka Lok and Wu Yu - arguably kept us competitive, thus the close score throughout the game. Coming into the game with a loser's mentality, Team CKC was badly in need of a boost to its confidence, which was realized when Fu Lei scored the first basket of the game on a hook shot. In addition, Shun-Yang provided his trademark hustle early on in an effort to sparkplug his teammates. Early on both teams were plagued by frequent turnovers. Inadequate preparation on the part of Team CKC was evident throughout as little emphasis was put on organized teamwork. Nevertheless, the game progressed in a seesaw manner, the grueling intensity of which is not found in casual scrimmages, which are not restricted by a time limit (two halves, 20 minutes each). All in all, Team CKC faced up to the challenge against some varsity (female...) level competition, and look forward to winning its first game next week with better coordinated tactics. February 14 snow...上午接到JANE KORN的電話，找我到Nursery School工作……因為是第一次，我懷著滿腔熱情去迎接這工作……但是，現實是殘酷的……我發現自己不大會跟小孩溝通-_-!（其實跟一般人也不行-_ -||）還有，我發現我對小女孩比較感興趣-_-! 很sweet……小男孩要不有點自閉（自己的寫照？），要不滿腦子是死物變成怪獸來吃人之類的幻想…… 眼看著兩位老師有技巧的跟小孩互動，自己的存在變得有點多餘了……P.S.:有個女孩認出我是"Chinese"……強…… 晚上一時，從圖書館回家，地上已經鋪了兩吋（估計）厚的雪，温度是10F……我倒不覺得很冷，走路之餘不忘把相機拿出來四處照一下……真有股衝動跑去BLITHEWOOD堆雪球（像某人……）…… 怎麼來了第三年才懂得欣賞雪？小時候都滿懷憧憬的，直到2004年11月某天第一天親歷下雪時震驚了一下。後來入冬了，雪下得大了，帶來的是種種的不便，像滲水的鞋，難行的道路，更糟糕是天氣回暖，半溶未溶的雪跟泥濘混在一起，光看就覺得噁心……今晚雪是新下的，地上白茫茫一片，看起來很美，但我可以想像將會出現的不堪場面……  January 26 迷思Dimitri always gives harsh comments......弄得我都有點不想讀經濟了......這個學期我要(希望)讓他跌眼鏡......每天去圖書館,讀上十個小時的書......grrrrrrrrrgghhhhhhh 我討厭讀書......我真的要去4+2多受兩年折磨嗎??? grrrrggghhhhh.......現在想這個言之尚早......SENIOR PROJECT能否完成才是較貼身的問題...... 在一個地方待久了, 走的時候總是捨不得......香港是, BARD這種乏味的地方也是.... 暫別ZDX、金鳯冰鎮奶茶、檀島雞批, etc. ...... December 23 Why choose Cruger over New Toasters?for the one out of only a handful of television set at Bard. high-definition basketball has been such an abysmal rarity over the past two years that i could not help but stick to the tv and watch gilbert arenas light up the suns for 54 points in an OT thriller, all the while defering dimitri's paper (it's already late anyway) thank you wen xianbo for his generous supply of instant food and drinks  the flight is home to paper-writing  December 20 proposed change to academic calendari dun mind shortening winter and summer breaks by a week or so if it means an extension of equivalent length to the semester, which is infreakingvaluable to the relief of end-of-semester life drain.......in any case......the academic year currently stands approximately at just over seven months......too short to justify the $40000+ tuition...... December 13 Iverson沒想到十一月二十四日現場看76人隊比賽同時見證了Iverson為該隊贏最後一場球……至今費城再沒有贏過(八連敗)……雖然是場三流球賽，歷史意義卻屬一流  Iverson在Wachovia Center的儲物櫃已被清理一空，然而他的去向仍未明朗…… ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 十二月八日第一次看歌劇 (Rigoletto @ The Met)。總算知道了一段世界聞名的旋律(La donna è mobile)的出處…… 有數次想睡，甚至已經睡了，一想到花了$20來看表演便硬把眼睛睜開  (還有要寫concert report的關係)......當晚第一次到Flushing，昨為夜宵吃了三寶飯，可惜不是醎蛋三寶…… 晚上睡得不怎麼香，主要是間中被打雷的聲音吵醒了…… November 28 NBA Live....Date: 11/24/2006 Time: 7:30 - 10:00 pm Venue: Wachovia Center @ Pattison Sport Complex Iverson不知不覺的進了四十六分，大部份是下半場取得。完場前數分鐘垃圾時間Iverson仍沒被換下場，已冷卻下來的他最後數次跳投都沒命中……如果是平日看電視(at Bard, ppstream, if working at all)，應該會在心裏批評76人的教練(Maurice Cheeks)的失當調動……反正是贏定了，應該把主力換下來避免不必要受傷。但作為一名現場觀眾我卻希望Iverson比賽時間愈長愈好。兩隊都屬魚腩行列，不看Iverson的個人表演還有甚麼看頭可言？似乎76人的高層和教練也意識到，只有靠Iverson僅餘的號召力作招徠才可吸引觀眾進場。儘管如此，空位仍然很明顯的暴露出來了…… 如果是看電視轉播這場比賽絶對稱得上悶……快攻、強力灌籃、空中接力等鏡頭寥寥可數。76人隊除Iverson以外唯一的highlight reel常客Andre Iguodala也沒有表演機會。令我印像較深刻的有"白人帥哥"Kyle Korver(帥不帥見人見智)完場前連進兩球三分，把全場觀眾徹底喚醒了，喝采聲如打雷一般一下子爆發出來……老實說，那兩球沒有多大意義，球賽是贏定了，可憐觀眾們等待了大半場的時間，能為主隊連貫地歡呼的場面才勉強出現了。 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Great way to begin a holiday trip: go sleepless all night writing paper all the way until half an hour before departure and be depressed for the rest of the way (at least not til u get some decent sleep time) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 美國的小費文化來到中國人(也有其他國家的移民)手中，結帳時多付15%成為了理所當然。少給一點，厚面皮的張口問你要之餘還要加上幾句難聽說話，小費作為服務素質評估的功能被粉碎。 November 03 guess who?Even after two days there is still this thought lingering which urges me to beat the fxxx out of Dimitri Papadimitriou. I've never been so thankful for the great restraint I possess. To whoever is reading this, please, please, please do yourself a favor, avoid him at all cost. He's dreadful, his exams are random, he's the epitome of evil. And you dare not ever in his presence even in the slightest hint display any doubt, let alone disrespect, for the God of Economics Sir John Maynard Keynes. Please stay away, unless you look forward to being trashed, traumatized, even haunted for life, reminiscing bitterly on your college days with him long after you've graduated. Oh and should I thank him for ending the semester early for me. What is to follow I would call an extra-long purgatory. How about some hallucinogenic drug to the rescue...... October 13 summer plans...How about a summer course at Cornell, in case all internship programs failed me? |
